After the October 2007 wildfires which destroyed the avocado grove, Peter and I decided

that we wanted to plant a vineyard.  By the end of spring, all of the debris and 2.5 acres

had been cleared, rip and cross rip in preparation of planting the vineyard.  We begin

planting June 20, 2008.

We planted 2600 vines of the Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello VCR 6 Clone  on 1103P

rootstock),  1100 vines of Barbera (VCR15 Clone on110R rootstock),  240 vines of

Cabernet Sauvignon (FPS 04 Clone on 1103P rootstock), and 240 vines of Petite Sirah

(FPS 03 Clone on1103P rootstock).

It is the practice at Altipiano Vineyard and Winery to double prune our vines.

We pre-prune in early January, with final pruning occurs in early March. Usually harvest in

September. Many have said that great wines are made in the vineyard.

Here at Altipiano Vineyard and Winery, our objective is to promote sustainable agriculture,

grow a superior grape and make world class wine.
